Whether you have a large or small project, trust the skilled craftsmen at Kelly's Furniture Service, Inc. to revitalize your valuable wood furniture, restoring and enhancing its natural beauty.

Kelly and Lisa Kohne started Kelly's Furniture Service, Inc. in 1983 on a shoestring budget with high hopes and a brand new baby. In 1983, Kelly's Furniture (then Kelly's Custom Refinishing) started out on West Coliseum in Fort Wayne. Lisa worked part time at a law firm in Fort Wayne and Kelly literally worked every single day (including Christmas) the first year just to make ends meet.

Kelly came to this business with an extensive background in woodworking under the direction of his father, who was then a local home builder. Growing up knowing woodworking was natural. Kelly worked first for his Dad and then for a local commercial contractor. Facing winter layoffs, Kelly started refinishing some furniture in his garage on the side. At the urging of Lisa's bosses, he decided to invest in himself and learn all he could about furniture restoration, taking the plunge in 1983. Several extremely lean years followed; employees came and went, and all the time Kelly took whatever workshops and classes that were available to him as well as learning from the best teacher along the way: experience.

Surrounding himself with excellent help, Kelly brought in Bruce Schroeder in 2001 to run the Fort Wayne shop. Bruce brings 33 years of woodworking experience starting at Anthis Career Center here in Fort Wayne, followed by 20 years as a supervisor and journeyman cabinet maker. Bruce has honed his artistic and finishing skills at Kelly's. From designing and building to finishing and restoration, Bruce has some of the best skills, knowledge and experience.

Kelly's also has a couple of long-time part time employees excellently filling in the gaps and needs of this ever-changing field. Lisa runs the office from their northern Indiana location.

Over the years, Kelly's has evolved with the furniture restoration industry to become one of Fort Wayne's leading furniture restoration businesses. Kelly's purchased their current location on Lakeview Drive in 2006.
